This week in our Earth Month series, we’re highlighting a few of our incredible local partners:⁠

🍵 – ethically sourced teas crafted with care⁠, emphasizing sustainable farming and labor ethics.
☕️ – Seattle-roasted beans from growers supporting good wages and working conditions.
🤎 – handmade caramels using local organic ingredients⁠ found right here in the Northwest!

By working with vendors who invest in their communities and keep things close to home, we’re making sustainable choices that taste as good as they feel.⁠

🌎✨ This April, we’re taking a moment to reflect on our impact and further protect the environment that gives us so much. Every choice we make—big or small—can help protect our planet, and we want to encourage you all to join us in making sustainability a priority 💚

Here are some ways we’re working to lessen our footprint at Distant Worlds:

☕️ Smarter Packaging – We use recyclable over compostable for to-go cups because recycling is more accessible for our customers. We always offer reusable mugs for guests dining in to continue minimizing packaging waste.
🗑️ Waste Management – No trash cans here! Everything goes into buss bins so we can properly sort into recycling, compost, and landfill—with garbage making up less than 20% of our total waste.
⚡️Energy Efficiency – Unlike traditional water heater systems, our tankless water heater only heats water when needed, reducing energy use.

Caring for our community also means caring for the planet 🌍 Stay tuned every Friday this month as we share more of the ways we’re making a difference!

We are Seattle's Gathering Grounds for Geeks. If you have a film, TV show, book, game, cartoon, graphic novel or comic book that delights and excites you then you are one of us. We'd love to hear all about it over a cup of coffee. Or if coffee isn't your thing try one of the tasty teas we offer from Friday Afternoon Tea, or let us make you a refreshing Italian Soda. If you're settling in for a D&D game or an afternoon of coding and are feeling peckish, we offer tasty pastry from Beach Bakery or our popular "Stuff on Toast." We stay open late too, so you can visit us for a study session or a board game.
